ICT/FCT test system

ICT/FCT SYSTEM

TOMISON provides powerful ICT and FCT automated testing production lines, standard testing workshops, and leverages the advantages of self-designed and manufactured testing platforms. Based on customer testing schemes, we can quickly implement online ICT/FCT testing systems and realize powerful functions such as automatic OK/NG diversion, automatic NG board identification, online scanning, and FCT test data recording. Through our ICT/FCT testing system, product production quality can be effectively controlled, important defects before delivery can be intercepted, and delivery pass-through rate can be improved.

PCBA testing (PCBA Test) refers to the electrical continuity and input/output value-based detection of PCBA circuit boards with mounted electronic components. In PCB circuit board design, there are voltage and current relationships between different test points. Professional testing equipment or a multimeter needs to be used to test these points to verify if the actual PCBA board meets design requirements. PCBA testing is a crucial step in ensuring production and delivery quality. FCT test fixtures are made according to customer-designed test points, programs, and test steps. Then, the PCBA board is placed on the FCT test fixture to complete the test.

PCBA Testing Principle

The test points on the PCBA board are connected through the FCT test fixture, forming a complete circuit. The computer and programmer are connected, and the MCU program is uploaded. The MCU program captures user input actions (such as long-pressing a switch for 3 seconds), performs calculations to control the on/off state of the surrounding circuit (such as LED flashing) or drive motor rotation, etc. By observing the voltage and current values between test points on the FCT test fixture and verifying that these input/output actions match the design, the entire PCBA board is tested.

PCBA Test Fixture

Mass production of PCBA boards requires testing, and corresponding test fixtures (Fixture) are usually used to assist in efficient completion. The principle of the test fixture is to connect the test pins to the test points on the PCB board. When powered on, key data such as voltage and current in the circuit can be obtained and displayed on the test fixture's screen, achieving rapid detection. When designing PCB boards, engineers consider the testing scheme, reserve PCB test points, and provide professional test documents or schemes to manufacturers. Our company can manufacture PCBA test fixtures (equipped with an engraving machine and test fixture assembly engineers).

PCBA test types are as follows:

ICT (In-Circuit Test): Mainly detects the voltage/current data of the test points after the PCB is powered on, without involving functional buttons or input/output tests.

FCT (Functional Test): Requires first burning the programmed microcontroller unit (MCU) program into the program IC through a programmer (such as ST-Link, JTAG) to perform the corresponding functional tests. For example, when a button is pressed, the LED lights up; when two buttons are pressed simultaneously, the factory settings are restored, etc. Of course, whether all functions can be tested must be based on the premise that the PCB is soldered correctly and the circuit is continuous, otherwise it cannot be realized.

Burn-in Test: For PCBA boards with a burned program and passed FCT, long-term, periodic simulation of user input and output is performed to test their durability and soldering reliability. In special cases, the PCBA board also needs to be exposed to specific temperature and humidity environments.
